In memorium – Franklin Grange, 462. Whereas, Jeremiah Groff, born March 21st, 1803 after living over his three-score, and ten years, a moral and honest citizen esteemed by all who knew him; died Oct 22, 1875 ; aged 72 years 7 months and one day. And … Whereas, Brother Groff joined the Patrons of Husbandry in September 1873, as a charter member where he lived and enjoyed the confidence of the brethren of the order; and commanded the highest esteem as Chaplain of this grange. Be it therefore Resolved, That in the death of Brother Groff, this Grange has lost a faithful and valued member; the widow a kind and devoted husband; the children an affectionate and indulgent parent; and the community a worthy citizen and neighbor. And whilst we mourn the loss of so valuable a member and brother, we are commanded not to mourn as those who have no hope. Resolved, that we deeply sympathize with the bereaved widow, and relatives in this their loss of a husband, father and friend; yet we can but hope that their loss is his eternal gain.
